Sawmills and Railways
Forestry Corps members were recruited for their experience in forestry and related trades: lumberjacks, sawmill operators, teamsters, railwaymen. This experience gave the Creston recruits the skills they needed overseas.
Upon arrival in England, a few of the men were sent to camps in England and Scotland. The vast majority, though, remained with the 230th Battalion - now re-designated 41st Company - and were immediately sent to France.
